Wall-Mounted Organizer Installation Guide
OLKOF wall-mounted organizers are installed using a French cleat: one rail is secured to the wall, and the matching part on the organizer is lowered onto it from above. Before installation, check the wall type and condition, then choose fixings suitable for your wall.
What you will need
- a spirit level and pencil for marking;
- a drill with a bit suitable for your wall;
- wall plugs and screws selected for the wall material and expected load;
- a detector for hidden electrical cables and pipes, if available;
- for a larger organizer, having two people for lifting and hanging is recommended.
Wall fixings may vary depending on the substrate. Do not choose hardware based on diameter alone: check its load rating and compatibility with your wall.
1. Check the wall
Identify what the rail will be fixed to:
- brick or concrete: use plugs and screws made for masonry; choose the drill bit for the specific material;
- drywall: if a fixing point does not align with a stud or profile, use drywall anchors with an appropriate load rating; a standard universal plug may not be sufficient;
- a timber stud or other solid wood: fix the rail directly into sound wood with suitable screws;
- tile, plaster, or other cladding: make sure the fixing reaches the structural substrate and is not supported by the finish alone.
If the wall is cracked, crumbling, hollow, or you cannot identify its construction, stop and consult a qualified installer before drilling.
2. Choose the position and height
Hold the organizer against the wall or use its mounting holes to transfer the position. Check the rail with a spirit level and leave enough clearance for shelves and folding elements.
- for adults, place the hooks within a comfortable reach, without requiring users to stretch or bend;
- for children, install the organizer lower so they can reach their belongings independently, while avoiding a position that could encourage climbing;
- for shared use, keep the upper elements for adults and make the lower part accessible to children;
- if you are unsure about the height, tell OLKOF the users' heights and the available space before placing your order.
The product description lists available heights of 30, 60, 90, and 120 cm, with widths up to 72.5 cm. Check your selected configuration before drilling.
3. Mark and drill the holes
- Place the wall part of the French cleat at the selected position.
- Mark every drilling point through the mounting holes. Do not drill between the holes without a fixing point.
- Check that there are no cables, pipes, or other concealed services behind the marks.
- Choose the drill setting and bit for the substrate. For tile, start without hammer mode; for brick or concrete, use the setting and bit permitted by the tool manufacturer.
- Drill to the depth required for the selected plugs, clear the dust, and insert the plugs flush with the wall unless the instructions for the specific fixing say otherwise.
4. Secure the French cleat to the wall
Insert the screws through the rail's mounting holes into the prepared plugs or solid substrate. Start all screws, check the level, and then tighten them in turn. Do not overtighten fixings in drywall or a soft substrate, as this can damage the hole.
The diagram shows the sequence: mark the holes, drill, install the plugs, secure the rail with screws, and check its position.
5. Hang the organizer
- Make sure the wall rail is securely fixed and does not move.
- Lift the organizer and place its matching cleat over the wall rail from above.
- Lower the organizer slowly until the two cleat sections are fully engaged along their length.
- Check that the organizer is level, sits close to the wall, and has no play.
- Only after checking the connection should you position the movable wooden bars, shelves, or hooks.
6. Check after installation
- Check all fixing points and the connection between the cleat sections.
- Apply a small amount of load carefully before placing your belongings on the organizer.
- Distribute items evenly. Do not concentrate all the weight on one hook or shelf.
- Do not exceed the load rating specified by the manufacturers of the plugs, anchors, and screws.
- If the organizer moves, tilts, or a fixing spins in place, remove the load and recheck the substrate and fixing type.
There is no single universal load rating for every wall: it depends on the wall material, substrate condition, number of fixing points, and the plugs or anchors used. For an unusual wall, a large configuration, or any concern about load capacity, contact OLKOF before ordering.

Do not begin installation if you are unsure about the wall type or whether the fixings are compatible.
